El bebop en Barcelona: “primeros pasos” de Tete Montoliu (1947-1958)

Abstract

The figure of the Catalan pianist Tete Montoliu (1933-1997) was decisive in the origins and for the subsequent development of the bebop style in Spain. This article aims to value the contributions of Tete Montoliu, through the path by the most unknown stage of his jazz career: from his beginnings in Barcelona at the end of the 40s to his first recordings in the 50s included in the album Tete Montoliu. Primeros pasos (2006), on which a brief analytical comment will be provided.
